Introducing the tourist attractions of Ansan - 김동은(Micha)

Hello! I’m Kim DongEun (Micha). This time, I’ll introduce Ansan’s tourist attractions. There are quite a lot of tourist spots in Ansan. I’m going to introduce three places. I hope you’ll enjoy my blog.

1. Tando Port (탄도항)

The Tando Port is a famous port on Daebu Island, an island in Ansan. It is said that the port was named Tando Port because there were a lot of oak trees which were used to make charcoal. It has been designated as a local fishing port. A local fishing port is a fishing port in South Korea that has a regional range of use and is based on coastal fishing support.

There is a road made of rock across the sea. It leads to a small island called Nooae Island. We can enter the island at ebb tide. Also, there are three aerogenerators, which makes the landscape more beautiful. The Tando Port is popular for its beautiful glow of the setting sun. We can even experience mudflats. There are many seagulls there, so if you hold the Shrimp Cracker (새우깡; a kind of chip in Korea) in your hand and raise your arm, the seagulls will swoop down and snatch the chip.

I have been there a few years ago. It was really, really nice. The landscape was very beautiful, and feeding seagulls was really fun and exciting. The cool wind felt so good. I really recommend this place. I took a lot of fabulous pictures.

2. Reed Marsh Park

Ansan Reed Wetland Park is Korea's first large-scale artificial wetland implemented by the Korea Water Resources Corporation. It is for water quality improvement and sewage treatment, and uses natural aquatic plants. It is also an ecological park, providing habitats for a lot of animals. It is famous for rare animals coming to live in. .This park is also used as walking course for tourists and learning course for children. There are wooden roads above the wetland with reeds. There is an Environmental Ecology Center building, where we can learn how this park is treating sewage and learn about ecosystem, and natural energy.

I went there, and it was very big. The wetland was big, and there were a lot of reeds. There were many courses we could take. The air was really fresh and the reeds and plants were beautiful. I also saw a white, crane-like bird. It was nice.

3. Nojeokbong Falls Park

The Nojeokbong Falls Park has the largest artificial waterfall in Korea made of natural stone, and many other facilities for visitors. Nojeokbong is a mountain, and at the peak of the mountain, you can see the view of downtown Ansan.

A long time ago, there was a shrine at the foot of the Nojeokbong. People who made a living out of fishing always came to the shrine and preyed to the west sea dragon king and to the guardian spirit of mountain to be safe. It was a place where people preyed for safety and peace, such as holding a big rite on the first lunar month of every year. The mountain was called Gasami Mountain. The Japanese named it when they were making a map of Korea because the mountain was shaped like a satgat, a traditional hat. We started to call it Nojoekbong when a spirit appeared in the dream of a female shaman and said, “Because the sincerity you give me everyday will be accumulated, call this mountain ‘Nojeokbong’”. This is the origin of the name.

There is a walking trail, so we can climb up the mountain. There is also a large rose garden and a royal azalea garden.

I went to the park. It was nicely decorated. The waterfall was great, it was cool and huge. The rose garden was full of various kinds of roses. And it had a perfect place for picnic. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to go up the mountain. Anyway, this park was very relaxing and pretty.

There were quite a lot of great tourist spots in Ansan. I’ve been to the three places I introduced more than one time. I loved these spots. If you want to relax in nature and see beautiful landscapes, you should visit these attractions!
