Seongho culture festival

 Have you ever heard about Seongho culture festival?

 I think most of people won't know about Seongho culture festival. Seongho culture festival is a festival which holds in Seongho park, and yi ik teacher's graveyard in Ansan. The festival was created to inherit the achievements and spirit of Seongho yi ik, who developed Silhak ideology while staying in Ildong, Ansan, and to satisfy citizens' nostalgia for traditional culture. 

Then what can we do or watch at the festival?

In Seongho culture festival we can watch a lot of traditional plays, participate Backiljang, 

Seongho drawing contest, and play traditional games.

let's first talk about Seongho culture festival's one of the most famous Traditional play, Dunbamyi play. Dunbamyi play is a traditional play which use real wooden boats. In Dunbamyi play they sing a folk song and heat the wooden boat like a drum. Dunbamyi play was started by fishermen long time ago. They played Dunbamyi play when they got down way or came back from the sea.

 

Next is Seongho Backiljang. Do you know what Backiljang is? Backiljang is a poem contest which was made at Joseom dynasty. We can easily participate in Seongho Backiljang. We just need to make a poem about the keywords on a banner and submit it. Writing a poem will be a good experience, I recommend to try it.

There are also a lot of experience booths in Seongho culture festival. We can make souvenirs by ourselves, we can paly traditional games, we can experience korean traditional cultures.

Seongho culture festival is a beneficial and interesting festival. There are more plays and events we can participate in than what I introduced at this lecture. Come to Ansan in May  and enjoy Seongho culture festival.
